Jazz

Jazz is a music genre that originated in the African-American communities of New Orleans in Louisiana in the late 19th and early 20th centuries.
The origins of jazz are in another music genre, called blues. Since the 1920s, jazz has been recognized as a major form of expression in traditional and popular music. The most remarkable aspects of Jazz are the swing and blue notes, complex chords, polyrhythms and improvisation.

Clothes style

At the beginning of jazz, fashion was influenced by African American culture. Jazz musicians often wore elegant suits and hats. Women wore long, elegant dresses. However, there was also an influence of European fashion, especially in the musicians' costumes.
Jazz became a lifestyle and musicians began to wear more casual clothing.Men wore tight pants and open-necked shirts, while women wore shorter dresses and high-heeled shoes. This fashion also reflected the influence of rock and roll on popular culture. For example, the fashion of the 50s and 60s reflected the rebellion and freedom of the time, which was also reflected in the jazz music of the time. Jazz fashion has evolved over time, from the elegant suits of the early days of jazz to the mix of classic and contemporary today. While fashion in jazz continues to evolve, it will always remain an essential element of the genre.

The lyrics
Jazz is quite different from one singer to another- Jazz musicians want to play their songs in different styles. These songs are familiar, and they want to make something shared- something that everyone knows. Jazz musicians make jam sessions in their performances and create improvised solos, which requires considerable skill. Inside all the variety in jazz, we can differentiate the rhythmic Jazz like “swing”, which uses “bent” or “blues” notes. Jazz expresses freedom, and it fights for the unfair treatments because of the color of the skin. We have some references of Jazz in many films like La La Land, which talks about how jazz is decreasing in our society. Another important film which talks about jazz is Whiplash. This film is about a young, ambitious music student who is pushed by his instructor.
