Jorja Alice Smith was born on the 11th of June 1997. She is an English singer and songwriter; she started writing songs when she was only 11 years old. A record producer called Guy Moot discovered her when, in 2012, she uploaded a cover of the song “Earthquake" to YouTube. After releasing 2 singles, she signed with Sony/ATV and released 2 episodes, in 2016 and 2017. In 2018, she released an album called “Lost & Found” which arrived to top 3 on the UK Albums Chart. That same year, she won the Brit Critics’ Choice Award. Furthermore, she has won many other awards since 2019. Not only she sings jazz, but also most of her songs are R&B and soul.

Her dress style

As Jorja is an emergent and current singer, she doesn’t follow old jazz fashion trends. Whenever she gives a concert, she dresses as a basic 21st century teenager, informal but trendy. On most of her concerts, she is dressed more formal that when she dresses casually. She normally wears long colourful dresses or formal trousers and jackets. As she loves basic outfits, she doesn’t usually wear many accessories or jewels, only pearl earrings and silver neckless.

My favourite song of hers

Jorja Smith has a lot of good songs, yet only one has touched my heart. This song is called “Blue Lights” and was released in 2018, it was part of her album “Lost and Found”. When I heard this song for the first time, it didn’t catch my attention. I discovered this song from a friend of mine, she was obsessed with it and whenever we shared air pods, she would put on the song. At first, I didn’t like it much but, the more I listened to it, the more I liked it. The music and the lyrics are so catchy that you can’t forget them once you have heard them. Its beat matches perfectly  with  the  lyrics, that makes the song more

perfect. In this song, Jorja talks about the injustices that black men had to face versus police and encourages listeners to speak out against injustice and racism. The way in which this song is written, and its music fit perfectly, and makes me want to listen to it repeatedly.
